Dr. Stephen Liu is the Medical Director and Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Adventist Health White Memorial in Los Angeles, CA. He also serves as a strategic and clinical advisor to Mednition, a company that uses artificial intelligence to improve emergency department care.
He has served in a number of leadership positions throughout his career, including as an ED medical director of another facility, a regional medical director, a member of the Board of Directors of his previous medical group, and on the California Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physician’s (Cal/ACEP) Board of Directors. He was also a member of the (California) Behavioral Health Action Coalition (BHA) to improve mental health care statewide.
Honors include being named Top Doctor by Los Angeles Business Journal in 2020 and 2021 and Physician of the Year by Adventist Health White Memorial in 2016.
He earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in chemistry and economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Stanford University Medical Center. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of ACEP.
