ERGENTUS Emergency Service Physicians Joins US Acute Care Solutions
CANTON, Ohio and DENVER, Colo. US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced ERGENTUS Emergency Service Physicians (ERGENTUS) has entered into a definitive agreement to join the national leader inemergency medicine, hospitalist and observation services as a founding partner. Founded by emergency medicine physician groups in Colorado, Florida, Maryland and Ohio, and capital partner Welsh, Carson, Anderson, Stowe, USACS is committed to the principle that high-quality patient care and the best hospital partnerships result when physicians maintain majority ownership and management of their practice. ERGENTUS has been committed to this principle since 1976, and joins USACS as a founding partner. ERGENTUS emergency medicine clinicians provide care to nearly 120,000 patients annually through two hospital emergency departments and two freestanding emergency departments. US Acute Care Solutions' Dr. Selley Named Physician of the Year
As part of the celebration for National Doctors Day, Carteret Health Care selectedDr. Victoria Selleyas Physician of the Year. Dr. Selley is the ED Medical Director atCarteret Health Carein Morehead City, NC. The celebration took place at A Pierless Vista. “Dr. Selley sets the bar high for all medical staff members. She exemplifies the caring and compassion that distinguish so many remarkable physicians,” said Dr. Donald Pocock, Vice President of Medical Affairs. “She is very deserving of this honor and I offer her sincere congratulations and appreciation for her dedication to Carteret County and our hospital.” Other citations of Dr. Selley’s commitment and dedication include: She is a true patient advocate who started the AIDET initiative to increase patient satisfaction. Selley is personable and engages each patient and family member at their level of understanding. She is a natural teacher and empathetic leader. Selley will give the shirt off of her back to any patient she comes in contact with regardless of their social situation or ability to pay. Dr. Selley became the ED Medical Director in 2013. In addition to her responsibilities as ED Medical Director, Dr. Selley spearheads numerous programs and committees at Carteret Health Care, including the Advanced Primary Stroke Care Program. Dr. Selley is a graduate of the USACS Scholars Program. She earned her medical degree at NOVA Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and completed her emergency medicine residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Lehigh Valley Health Network. Dr. Selley is a 2013 graduate of US Acute Care Solutions’ Scholars Program. Doctors Day is an annual, national event celebrated at the end of March in which physicians are honored for their dedication and services.

Dr. Augustine Recognized For Excellence
James Augustine, MD, FACEP, was presented the 2016 National Excellence in EMS Award during a recent meeting of the EMS State of the Sciences Conference in Dallas, TX. "I am very grateful for the award, and it reinforces my dedication to serve the people who need our Emergency Medical Services. They are a fabulous group of physicians that serve the world’s large EMS organizations that compose the Eagles. To get such recognition from my peers is a great honor." Referred to as "A Gathering of Eagles," the annual conference highlights cutting edge information and advances in EMS research, management issues, and patient care. Dr. Augustine is a long-time leader in EMS, and has served as a firefighter for 34 years. He is the Director of Clinical Operations for USACS. He is also active in national activities in EMS through the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Augustine currently serves as a Medical Director for Fire EMS agencies in Atlanta, GA, Naples, FL, and Dayton, OH.

Top Clinicians Announced for Mecklenburg
Dr. Timothy Hall and Mary Beth Weaver, PA-C, have been named Top Clinicians for Mecklenburg. Dr. Hall is Chairman at Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte and a staff physician at Carolinas HealthCare System University. Weaver is an advanced practice provider at Iredell Memorial Hospital. The award is presented to the physician and APP who demonstrate, not only exceptional patient care, but also have repeatedly gone above and beyond the call to improve the Mecklenburg. Dr. Edward McCutcheon, ED Medical Director at Carolinas HealthCare System University, commented, "Dr. Tim Hall is the model physician and leader we should all emulate. He is consistently in the upper tier for productivity and patient satisfaction. He is always the first to volunteer to help his partners out when a shift needs covered. He even surprisingly shows up in the ED at any of our sites to assist our new providers when they start." "Dr. Hall is an integral part of our leadership's success within CHS as he tirelessly serves on hospital and system wide committees to ensure we have the best prepresentation for USACS. A very well deserved award to one of the nicest guys I've personally been fortunate to work with over the past 15 years," Dr. McCutcheon concluded. Dr. Allin Vesa, ED Medical Director at Iredell Memorial Hospital, said "Mary Beth Weaver is a true role model for our APP program at Iredell. Not only has she demonstrated clinical excellence, but she has also consistently performed in the top tiers for productivity and patient satisfaction. She demonstrates compassion and a solid work ethic, while bringing laughter and positivity to our ED. My overall impression: 'Attitude gives altitude!'" Dr. Hall is no stranger to receiving awards. In 2015, he was named to the list of five top Emergency Medicine Docs by Charlotte Magazine. He has been in Charlotte for several years. He completed his Chemistry BS and medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then trained in emergency medicine in Charlotte and has practiced in the Charlotte area ever since. Dr. Hall is the Chairman at Carolinas HealthCare System University where he served as ED Medical Director from 1996 to 2011 and as past President of the medical staff. He remains active in practice on the CHS University and CHS system-wide and USACS committees to improve the physician experience and patient outcomes. Weaver completed her undergraduate studies at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. She completed her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Wingate University in Wingate, NC. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. "I am overwhelmed by the kind things people have said since I've been given this award," said Weaver. It has encouraged me to work harder and be more of an advocate for my patients."

U.S. Acute Care Solutions Names Steven Eisenberg as General Counsel
US Acute Care Solutions is pleased to introduce Steven Eisenberg as General Counsel. Steve is well-regarded in the health care industry, with over 20 years experience providing strategic transactional and regulatory counsel to clients in the health care industry. Steve joins us from Cardinal Health, where he was Vice President and General Counsel of Cardinal Health at Home,the industry leader in the home delivery of disposable medical supplies. There he headed the legal and compliance departments, led multiple mergers and acquisitions (including the sale of the business to Cardinal Health), and was instrumental in developing the business' overall post-acute strategy. Before joining Cardinal Health at Home's executive team, Steve was a partner at Baker Hostetler, a national law firm, where he practiced corporate and health care law. At Baker Hostetler, Steve provided strategic counsel to clients in the health care industry for transactional, commercial and regulatory matters, including helping clients position themselves to compete in evolving payment models. Clients included physician groups (including hospital-based physician groups), hospitals, health systems, insurers and ancillary providers. Steve earned a Masters of Laws (LLM) degree from the Health Law Program at DePaul University College of Law and a Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland State University – Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Miami University. Dr. Broida Re-appointed to The Joint Commission PTAC
Dr. Broida recently received a re-appointment as an ACEP Representative to The Joint Commission Hospital Professional Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC). The PTAC is an integral part of The Joint Commission’s (TJC) advisory structure. Representing the views of a diverse group of professional associations, PTAC representatives provide expert advice to assist TJC in the development of Standards and Elements of Performance. Dr. Broida serves Director of Risk Management for US Acute Care Solutions. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Physicians Specialty Limited, Risk Retention Group (PSLRRG). Dr. Broida is a board-certified emergency physician with more than 20 years experience. He has been active in emergency physician professional liability insurance since 1989, and possesses a wealth of experience in all aspects of risk management and patient safety. He also has a strong track record of ED operational experience, improving emergency department efficiency, patient satisfaction and profitability.
