Silver Spring Emergency Physicians Join US Acute Care Solutions

GERMANTOWN, Md. US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced the physicians of SILVER SPRING EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS (SSEP) will join the national leader in emergency medicine, hospitalist and observation services in its Mid-Atlantic region. Founded by emergency medicine physician groups in Colorado, Florida, Maryland and Ohio, and capital partner Welsh, Carson, Anderson, Stowe, USACS is committed to the principle that high-quality patient care and the best hospital partnerships result when physicians maintain ownership and management of their practice. SSEP emergency medicine clinicians provide care to approximately 110,000 patients annually at two hospital emergency departments in the Washington, D.C. metro area. “USACS Mid-Atlantic is very pleased to welcome SSEPs’ physicians into our coalition. Groundbreaking New Parental Leave Policy to Take Effect in January

US Acute Care Solutions’ (USACS) groundbreaking new parental leave policy, announced in July, will take effect beginning in 2017. The industry-leading policy gives 12 weeks of leave for birth mothers in addition to benefits for adoptive primaries, fathers, partners, spouses, and other non-primary caregivers. The new policy will support USACS’ goal of becoming a destination employer of choice for women and parents. “At a time when women’s issues are front and center in the politics and culture of American life, employers in emergency medicine have no excuse anymore not to step up as a matter of principle and of competitiveness,” said Chesney Fowler, MD, Director of Recruiting for USACS Mid-Atlantic. “Let’s hope other specialties also fallow suit, followed by other areas of health care, and eventually the U.S. economy as a whole.” USACS’ new parental leave policy includes: Father, partner, spouse and other non-primary caregivers 2 weeks at 100% pay Adoptive or surrogate parents 2 weeks at 100% pay 4 weeks at 50% pay Birth mothers 8 weeks at 100% pay (2 weeks parental leave + 6 weeks short-term disability) 4 weeks of 50% pay Flexible clinical scheduling for 3 months post leave (as available) Learn more about thepaid parental leave policy.

Dr. Linda Lawrence Joins US Acute Care Solutions After Distinguished Career in United States Air Force

US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced Col. Linda Lawrence, MD, USAF (Ret.) has joined the physician-owned group as Executive Vice President, Organizational and Cultural Integration. Dr. Lawrence most recently served with the Air Force Medical Service, where she led the strategic transformation to a continuous learning and improving organization promoting safety and high reliability. In that role she oversaw the strategy, policy, change management, communication and resourcing for 44,000 employees at 75 hospitals and clinics that treat 2.6 million patients. Previously she served as the CEO of the 31stMedical Group, stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy. She also served as chief of the emergency department at Wilford Hall Medical Center in Texas, and as Chief Medical Officer for the hospital on Travis Air Force Base in California. Finally, she served seven years on the board of the American College of Emergency Physicians, having been elected to every executive office. Linda is one of the most accomplished and well-respected emergency medicine physicians in the country. LAS VEGAS Emmy award-winning journalist, Soledad O’Brien will speak at the ACEP Scientific Assembly in the first event of the US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) Women’s Dialogue Series. Equally passionate about her career and family life, Soledad will share her personal wisdom as a mom balancing the joy of raising four children with an exciting, fulfilling career. O’Brien is an Emmy award-winning journalist, documentarian, news anchor and producer for networks including CNN, NBC, PBS and HBO. She also owns her own production company, Starfish Media Group. Gindlesperger Named VP, National Director of Advanced Practice Providers

Gindlesperger previously served as the Director of APPs for USACS Mid-Atlantic. In her new role, Gindlesperger will lead the development and execution of a national platform to advance the role of APP management and clinical practice across all USACS. “We are very fortunate to have a national leader with such industry-wide respect in our organization,” said USACS CEO Dominic Bagnoli, Jr., MD, FACEP, FAAEM. Dr. Cheryl Pegus Named to US Acute Care Solutions Board of Directors

Dr. Pegus has served as the Chief Medical Officer for Walgreens and the Chief Medical Officer for SymCare. Prior to that, she held positions of increasing medical and professional responsibility at Aetna, LipoScience and Pfizer. Dr. Pegus currently serves as the Director of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Innovation at New York University School of Medicine. Dominic J.
